Welcome to the Quality of Life (QoL) Dog Study

Join a UK-based study exploring how VetMetrica™ - a validated tool that measures your dog’s quality of life – can improve the communication between vets and dog owners and the early detection of health issues 🩺

By using this easy-to-use tool ahead of your dog’s next routine appointment, you’ll be helping to shape better care for your companion, and others just like them 🐶

Ready to join the pack? We're looking for:

Dogs that are generally healthy*

Dogs aged between 2 - 10 years old

Dogs due a routine vet appointment** between now and September 2026

Owners who are keen to get involved in meaningful canine research

* No chronic illness or long-term medication. Parasite preventatives and everyday supplements are fine.
** Like an annual health check or booster vaccination.

You will need to register on the Joii Studies Web App. You'll use it to have an onboarding call where you'll speak to a vet, discuss the study and ask any questions. Before the call, you'll receive an email link to a short questionnaire which includes the study's T&Cs.

App-based questionnaire

Before your in-person appointment with your vet, we'll prompt you with a link to download the Animal Research Tool (ART) App. You'll also need to register to ART, but all instructions will be sent via email.

Attend your in-person appointment with your vet as planned. Your vet will have a questionnaire of their own to complete, while also covering the reason(s) for your visit.

Feedback questionniare

In order to send your study reward, we ask that you complete a short feedback questionnaire. You'll then officially complete the study!
