The hook is slid under the tick from the side, and a few gentle twists (2–3 rotations) remove the tick quickly and completely, helping to ensure no parts are left under the skin. This reduces the risk of infection. After use, the remover should be washed and the affected area on your pet wiped with antiseptic.
