About Ella

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 2013 and spent several years in small animal practice across the UK. Alongside this I carried out charity work, supporting foster organisations and caring for therapy animals.

I joined Joii in 2019 as a consulting vet, providing video consultations to pet owners. I now work as a Veterinary Developer, helping to keep the symptom checker accurate, up to date and helpful. I work mainly with cats, dogs and small furries, and my interest in behaviour, sparked by my own rescue pets, led me to complete a Diploma in Advanced Animal Behaviour. I've also trained as a life coach, which helps me support owners as well as their pets.

Career highlights

  • Trained life coach

  • Charity work with foster organisations and therapy animals

Why I became a vet

From a young age I've been surrounded by animals. Growing up we had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, gerbils, chickens and horses. Since becoming a parent, I understand the challenge of balancing family life with caring for pets, and that helps me see things from the owner's side and tailor my advice to each family's lifestyle.

Outside of work

I have a special love for small farm animals such as chickens, sheep and goats, and enjoy days out at the farm with my children.
